Mick

K9 Mick was born in the Netherlands in 2012 where he was raised and trained for the sport of KNVP. After being awarded his PH1 title, Mick was sent to the America to begin his career as a police dog. K9 Mick was purchased by the Mesa Police Department in June of 2015. After graduating the Mesa Police Departments Patrol Dog Academy with his assigned handler, Mick worked as a patrol and SWAT dog. The following year Mick was trained for narcotics detection. MIck served the Mesa Police Department as a dual purpose patrol/SWAT and narcotics dog for approximately 5 years until he retired with his handler in 2020. Mick was known for being a very well balanced, hard working police dog. He located a suspect hiding inside a storage shed on his very first deployment after the academy. MIck had numerous successful suspect finds/apprehensions and narcotics finds during his career as a police dog. During is time off, Mick enjoyed playing Frisbee, swimming in the pool and playing with his best dog friend, Maddie the Jack Russel Terrier. He enjoys these same activities in retirement. Since retirement Mick has had the opportunity to travel the country with his handler to assist with training other police dog teams.
