Saffron (aka Ron ear tag B530)

Ron, a 2 and a half-year old chocolate Labrador Retriever, knew he was destined for great things at an early age. So, he left his littermates in Germany and headed to the Mecca of Canine Training at Lackland Air Force Base. This is where he began his career as an Explosives Detection Canine. The continuation of his career landed him at the Oakland International Airport; partnering with his handler, he serves to protect Bay Area travelers. This rookie canine has adopted the nickname “Saffron”. It seems prepping for work each morning by listening to the song lyrics in Mellow Yellow, “I’m just mad about Saffron”, matches his mojo. Ron is a hard worker, stopping only briefly to glance at a cute toddler or perhaps eye-ball a tasty bread crumb [or two]. In his spare time, he enjoys running obstacles at the dog park, inventing new ways of fetching his favorite toys, and closing out his days by chillaxing in his backyard pool.
