K9 Moose

Moose had a hard start to life. Although my department purchased him from Ridgeside K9 in Ohio, he was imported by Black Rock Canines in Connecticut. This business was shut down and the owners were charged with animal cruelty. We discovered that this was Moose’s origin well into his training and later discovered he was one of the last dogs to be sold before the business was shut down and the owners were charged. Moose showed signs of being fearful of men initially and was incredibly food driven. We found out later that most dogs there had been grossly mistreated and often starved, which explained a lot of his behavior. Moose was very resilient and once with me, he has grown into an amazing dog and does not have as many trust issues. He still is incredibly food driven and will eat anything he can get into his mouth, which contributed to his early retirement.
