Horus

K9 Horus is an 11-year-old Dutch Shepherd who proudly served for eight years with the United States Secret Service Emergency Response Team. Trained in apprehension, Horus worked alongside his handler to protect high-profile locations and ensure the safety of three Presidents during some of Washington, DC’s most historic moments from 2016 to 2024, including the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown, major national demonstrations, and the January 6th Capitol security events. Originally named Florus, his nearly 100-pound muscular frame and protective nature inspired his name change to Horus, after the Egyptian deity symbolizing protection. Now retired, Horus has traded DC for sunshine, open pastures, and a well-earned life off duty.
