Mary Rose McCaffrey

Ms. McCaffrey is currently the principal of McCaffrey Consulting, focusing on providing strategic security services across National Security and Industry.     

From 2016 to 2023, Ms. McCaffrey was the Vice President, Chief Security Officer for Northrop Grumman Corporation. She was the strategic security advisor to the CEO, Corporate Policy Council, and Board of Directors. In this role, she demonstrated leadership expertise in the delivery of security performance, customer compliance, risk and crisis management across the spectrum of programs to customers. During her tenure, the company received an ISOS award for resilience in 2019.  Her passion for team development and enabling partnerships between government and industry for common solutions were a hallmark of her tenure. 

Ms. McCaffrey was a former intelligence officer with over three decades of security at four government agencies culminating in her final role as the Director of Security of CIA, (the first female selected for that role).   She served across the intelligence community, was the Director of Security and Counterintelligence for the NRO, was part of the creation and early days of the Office of Director of National Intelligence and served in the Department of the Navy.    

In her role as D/OS, she was instrumental in coordinating the care of the CIA K-9’s to be included in the CIA Agency Combined Federal Campaign.   This enabled the families to get help in the care of their “four legged” family members who has served their nation with distinction.  She was known to be partial to the K-9’s and their handlers, always keeping “peanut butter”, water, and chew toys  in her office, in the event a handler and dog came to visit.   

Ms. McCaffrey serves on the Board of Advisor for several companies and non-profit organizations. She is the President of the SIGNA Society, a CIA security officer organization. 

 She and her husband reside in Virginia and Massachusetts.
