Colleen Mullally

Dr. Colleen Mullally grew up in Los Angeles and attended college at the University of San Diego. She then obtained her veterinary degree at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts graduating in 2004.

After veterinary school Dr. Mullally returned to her home state of California and entered a 1-year rotating small animal internship followed by 3-year Emergency and Critical Care Residency. During her internship year the hospital worked closely with Guide Dogs of America in Sylmar, Ca which led to her first foray into handling and working with working dogs. During her residency she was tasked with giving a lecture to approximately 40 canine officers from around the Los Angeles area and so began her love of working with police canines and their handlers.

As a residency trained Emergency and Critical Care veterinarian, Dr. Mullally has worked in numerous specialty emergency practices both in Los Angeles and the DC Area. Aside from her job in the ER and ICU, Dr. Mullally enjoys training handlers in facets of triage and trauma in working canines.

When not at work, Dr. Mullally spends time with her family and menagerie of pets, loves traveling, is a volunteer veterinarian for or the Alexandria Animal Welfare League, and a volunteer veterinarian for World Vets – an organization that has spay/neuter initiatives in numerous underdeveloped countries.

Dr. Mullally works at VCA SouthPaws Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Center in Fairfax, VA.
