MWD Astra started her Naval career at Lackland AFB where she was trained to detect explosives. Her first duty station was Naval Support Activity Naples Italy. From there she deployed to Camp As Sayliyah Qatar in support of operation Spartan Shield. She also travels to Kuwait and was trained to detect home made explosives that were utilized in suicide vests. She finished her career at Naval Support Activity Souda Bay.
