Dart
- Breed / Mix: Labrador Retriever
- Age: 15 Years
- Service: Military
Specialized Search Dog (retired) Dart (T304) served in the active duty Army for 4 years. His time was cut short due to the SSD program being dismantled and dogs being retired. Dart was adopted by his handler, Raymond Saxton, and began his life at home with him, his now wife, and a Great Dane named Finn. The retirement did not stop Dart from wanting to work or remain active. During his service, Dart was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana and Fort Meade, Maryland. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 for a year long rotation working with the Special Operations community and finding over 30 IEDs and Caches. He performed numerous VIP missions for POTUS, VPOTUS, FLOTUS, SECDEF, and other high profile personnel from the DoD and State Department both stateside and overseas. Dart and his handler performed dozens of demonstrations to the public during national night out and large garrison events. He was recognized for his participation in Veterans Day events, building relationships with surrounding communities. Currently, Dart spends his time at home with his previous handler and his family, going to parks, travelling, and being the best dog anyone could ask for.
