Diego was assigned to Naval Support Activity Souda Bay, Greece his entry care where he was a dual purpose patrol and drug dog. I was his handler for a year before moving to a different dog. I fought hard for this sweet boy to get the surgeries he needed and for the vets to agree it was his time to go to the USS Couch. Now he lives with his 3 or old sister, who hes still yet to learn is bigger than he is. Diego has some old kennel habits that may never go away, which means as long as your standing he will be walking in a circle. This dog was my first ever assigned military working dog and he will forever have a place in my home and in my heart. He may have a malagtor attitude but it is equal to how loving and sweet he is. A week after I brought him home, family came to visit. My cousin has a 3 year old son, without me knowing Diego and the 3 or old had gone out side with my cousin. Diego was playing fetch with the small human and id saw a side of Diego that until then I was not aware existed. Diego was gentle as could be, placing the ball at the boys feet and would not touch it until it was thrown for him. He was always a dog that never wanted to come back to any handler once he had a toy. Diego is still the only big dog that kid isn’t afraid of.
