Canine Hhilbert is named in honor of US Army CPL Thomas Layton Hilbert who made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraqi on September 7, 2007 from a roadside IED. Hhilbert has a double letter at the beginning of his name identifying him as a TSA puppy program canine. He was born directly into his job at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas. At the time he was tested as the top canine for vapor and passenger screening canine. He has worked Super Bowls, The Pope visit to Philadelphia, and at over 12 different airports in support of countless high profile events as a passenger screening canine. He served his country well for over 10 years of his life. He and his handler were named 2021 TSA Team of the Year. A very high recognition. He retired as the best. He continues to be very active in his retirement where he resides with 3 other labs. He really enjoys swimming, his toys, handlers sleep number bed, basking in the sun, and spending his days at a family members house next door so he can get as much loving as possible while dad is at work. He was assigned to Kansas City International Airport from 2012 to 2016, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport 2016-2021. After his retirement his handler was reassigned back to Kansas City where Hhilbert enjoys his retirement. In his day he was one of the best at the job. During his time in DFW he was able to visit with the family of CPL Hilbert in Venus, Texas where he gave the family comfort know that CPL Hilbert’s legacy lives on in canine Hhilbert. I can go on for days about how special Hhilbert is just ask me and I will ramble on about my Hero!
