Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Max, has been officially retired from duty! Max, born September 3rd, 2018, was an energetic puppy that was rescued from a shelter by the German Shepherd Rescue of New Jersey (GSRNJ).Max was just 14 months old, he was adopted by the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office and put into training with Ofc. Lomonaco at the Atlantic County “Sonny Burke” K-9 Academy. Max excelled in his training as a Narcotics Scent Detection Dog and was one of the first K-9’s in Atlantic County not to be trained to locate marijuana in order to adjust to the new laws in NJ, graduating from their K-9 training in Feb, 2020. Now, Max is being given the opportunity to fully retire in good health and in good standing and enjoy life at his home with the Lomonaco family. He will be missed by the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office family, and we thank him for his service.
