Canine Poker, an explosive detection K9 for the Transportation Security Administration, served on active duty, supporting numerous national special security events over the course of four years. These included President Trump’s rally in Jacksonville, Florida, the Super Bowl in Los Angeles, and numerous dignitary visits to Orlando, Florida. Poker provided explosive detection capabilities to the National Explosives Detection Canine Team program in Orlando, Florida, for several years, performing countless sweeps to protect the traveling public at Orlando International Airport, and attendees of these special events. Unfortunately, Poker was diagnosed with degenerative joint disease at a young age, which rapidly progressed despite every medical effort to extend his service. In his best interest, it was ultimately decided to retire him. Poker served faithfully and proudly, and he will now enjoy retirement with less stress on his joints, extending his much-deserved quality of life at home.
