Riso

RMWD Riso was an Army dual-purpose Patrol Drug Detection Dog (PDDD) and began his working career at USAG Vicenza, Italy in the 525th MP Detachment (MWD). Riso’s first handler only trained with him for 30 days before successfully certifying as an operational MWD Team. Riso conducted several health and welfare missions across USAG Italy until a severe heat stroke cut his career short. Riso was rushed to Veterinary Medical Center-Europe in Kaiserslautern, Germany after showing adverse neurological signs after a heat episode from a training exercise. Riso spent several weeks at the facility and was transferred to Wiesbaden, Germany with the 525th MWD Kennel HQ. Riso was fully dispositioned from the Army in October 2020 and spent the next three years exploring Europe wit his Det. Commander and new owner who is still serving in the Army. Today, Riso is spoiled with a big fenced in yard, toys, and people that showed him patience and love as he transitioned into retired life!
