Rommel

K9 Rommel began his career with Suffolk Police Department in October of 2015. After completing initial patrol and narcotics training, Rommel certified with the Virginia Police Work Dog Association and hit the streets running. During his career with SPD, Rommel was responsible for apprehending multiple wanted subjects, seizing narcotics and getting multiple illegal firearms off the streets of Suffolk, VA. Rommel received multiple Departmental Commendations and Noteworthy Performance Awards throughout his tenure with the department. Rommel retired from service along with his handler, SPO Rosario Tumminello, in the fall of 2013. Since retirement, Rommel has spent his time lounging around the house and teaching his younger brother and sister (a Great Pyrenees and German Shepherd) how to chase Kongs and dig holes in the yard.
