  • Breed / Mix: Belgian Malinois
  • Age: 8 Years
  • Service: County Police / Agency

K9 Scooby began his service to Henrico County, and its residents, as a single purpose Narcotics Canine in September of 2019, actually certifying on Friday the 13th. Scooby came from a kennel in North Carolina and though his career was cut short, because of the legalization of marijuana, Scooby still made his mark.  Scooby participated in over a dozen school sweeps in Henrico, Hanover, and Richmond; he also had over 100 street utilizations in only his 13 months of active service, assisting in getting both drugs and guns off the streets. Scooby earned his name with his goofy personality and the love for attention…with those qualities we also took in PR events and he quickly became the most popular attraction at the “Touch-A-Truck.” Both kids and adults were lining up to give Scooby some love and take pictures with him.  Scooby went out with a bang on his last street utilization November 14th, 2020 when he alerted to a car in the city of Richmond. Officers searched the car finding trash bags full of marijuana, a Ruger assault rifle with three loaded 60 round magazines, a 9mm handgun with three loaded 30 round magazines, and a couple thousand dollars in cash. Scooby now enjoys his retirement life in New Kent county with his new best friend and kennel neighbor K9 Colt, my current active drug dog.
