K9 Scout first certified through the Virginia Police Work Dog Association in December 2016. During her career, K9 Scout worked with her partner D/S Mahler. K9 Scout worked a multitude of cases to include homicides, robberies, stolen vehicles, breaking & entering, missing/endangered adults and children to name a few. K9 Scout and her partner conducted thousands of hours of training and responded to over 150 calls throughout the state of Virginia and South Carolina during K9 Scout’s career. K9 Scout’s most impactful call for service occurred in May 2017 when K9 Scout was instrumental in assisting with tracking the suspect after VA State Police Special Agent Michael Walter was killed in the line of duty in Richmond City, VA. Unfortunately, K9 Scout developed joint disease and was medically retired in 2021. Since retiring she has enjoyed her downtime to family camping trips, long walks, golf cart rides, and any situation where she gets tummy rubs and attention from strangers!
