K9 Uno, a Dutch Shepherd born on December 26, 2015, in Mexico, and was sold as a
Patrol K9 to the United States Border Patrol. He graduated from the Border Patrol
Canine Training Center in Front Royal, Virginia, on December 15, 2017, and was also
certified in Patrol work by the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association. Following
certification, K9 Uno was assigned to the Laredo Sector Border Patrol Tactical Unit
(BORTAC), where he served with distinction for eight years. During his career, he trained
and operated throughout the United States, including participation in a security mission
following Hurricane Ian in Florida in 2022. K9 Uno accumulated extensive training in
human detection and the physical apprehension of violent subjects and participated in
hundreds of high-risk warrant operations. He consistently enhanced operational
effectiveness and made significant contributions to officer safety. Uno also supported air
operations and successfully rappelled during numerous missions. K9 uno leaves behind
a legacy of courage, dedication, and unwavering service to the United States Border
Patrol and the officers he faithfully protected.
