K9 VITA retired from the United States Border Patrol in November of 2018. VITA spent the majority of her career at the Soniota, Arizona Border Patrol Station. Most of her duties consisted of tracking narcotic smugglers in the mountains of southern Arizona between Nogales, Arizona and Naco, Arizona. Vita’s seizure statistics ended with 22,882 lbs of marijuana, 2 lbs of Methamphetamine, personal use amounts of cocaine and heroin and 506 human apprehensions. These seizures led to multiple convictions of drug mules. VITA’s handler is a K9 trainer for the Border Patrol which allowed her to travel Texas and Virginia for training purposes on multiple occasions. VITA loved the snow! Probably because she needed a break from the summers in AZ. VITA is enjoying the retired life with seven other dogs and three horses on a little ranch in Arizona. Her and her replacement are best of friends.
