Canine Smith was certified in explosive detection and tracking and served with the Pennsylvania State Police from 2013 until his retirement in early 2021. Canine Smith worked throughout the state of Pennsylvania at events such as Penn State Football games, NASCAR Pocono races, the Little League World Series, and numerous others. Just prior to his retirement K9 Smith assisted the United States Secret Service with numerous events and campaign rallies prior to the Presidential Election.
