Oonyx was born at Joint Base Lackland in San Antonio, TX in 2007 as part of the Department of Defense Puppy Program. She was part of the “O” litter which explains her beautifully unique name.

She was then transferred to the Department of Homeland Security and trained to be a bomb sniffing dog for the TSA (Transportation & Safety Administration) as part of the National Explosives Detection Canine Team Program. Oonyx completed her training in September 2009 and went to work with her handle. Oonyx successfully worked for the Metro Washington Airport Authority at both Ronald Reagan International Airport and Dulles International Airport until her retirement in April 2019. She now lives with her former handler and his family where she’s enjoying her retirement.

Her favorite treats are Pig Ears and during her downtime, she enjoys playing with our 2 other Belgian Malinois.
